Max is a young, lovable, puppy who is ready to help the life of a lucky boy. Sam, a young boy takes Max everywhere with him. This book is about a service dog and how helpful he is to a little boys life. This book can be used to help children understand the purpose of a service dog. It portrays the message that it is okay to be different. This a great way to introduce this topic to children ,and to answer and questions they may have. Would pair this with "Please, Puppy, Please" by Spike Lee.

I received this book in a Goodreads Giveaway and I'm so happy that I did! Laura Numeroff, known for If You Give A Mouse a Cookie, has written a wonderful book about what it's like to be a service dog in training. Max is just like every other puppy, he wants to chase squirrels, play with kids, and run. But he also knows just how hard service dogs work and admires his future career. This book is well written and I am going to love to using it in my classroom!

I love that his book is written in the puppy's POV! an excellent book to share with youngsters about the importance of how to treat a service dog whenever around one. Written by Laura Numeroff, illustrated by Lynn Munsinger and published as a 'work for biscuits' book by Cleverkick.#servicedogs #PB #mustread

I don't think if I've ever had a picture book make me cry before, but I definitely teared up with this one. The adorable little puppy in this story talks about being a service dog-in-training. It's a super cute, sweet book with delightful little pictures, and I just love this book.

Adorable book about a puppy training to be a service dog. It is written from the dogs perspective, one of my favorite views. I would love to train my puppy to do service dog activities.

Max is a puppy who is on his way to becoming a service dog. He spends his time learning from a young boy named Sam. They go everywhere together from the bus, to Max's puppy school, and even out to eat. Sam is by Max's side every step of the way teaching him basic concepts before he has to go away to get more difficult training. Join Max on his journey to prepare to help someone in an amazing way.Laura Numeroff did a great job writing a book that can teach kids an important lesson. Young readers are able to learn about service dogs and the potential they have to help someone have a better life. She ties the illustrations together because they are very detailed but simple enough for children to know what is going on. The text is also easy for children to understand and learn the moral of the story. Overall, this should be a book that is read to all children so that they are able to learn a meaningful lesson they might not be aware of yet.

This is a great book! The artwork and the wording are just right. Of course, I wouldn't expect anything less from this team.Raising a Hero illustrates what a service dog would typically be expected to do and explains what a puppy raiser does to help in the process. It shows the places where service dogs are allowed when other dogs are prohibited. Numeroff is sure to mention that the boy and puppy will miss each other because the puppy raiser will give him back so he can be a real service dog.I would definitely recommend this book to any kids and to anyone who wanted to quickly and easily show what the job of a puppy raiser or service dog entails. I received this book in a goodreads giveaway.

This book is about raising a service dog. Max is a puppy and Sam is training him for a year until he has to go to dog school to learn the hard stuff. This book is really awesome because it teaches kids something that they normally do not learn about. This tells about what types of things service dogs have to go through. Of coarse Max loves his job and is a hero to help people out who cannot always help themselves.

Raising a Hero is the story of a boy, Sam, who is raising Max, a puppy who will become an assistance dog. The text is perfect, and the illustrations are wonderful. This is a superb book for children who can't yet read through early readers. It is especially wonderful that it will introduce many children to assistance dogs. The author is donating some of the proceeds to Canine Companions for Independence which is mentioned on the back cover.

Wonderful and cute! Max is a service dog-in-training and hopes to grow up and be the best he can be. Raising a Hero shows what happens during his first year. The illustrations by Lynn Munsinger are very sweet and the story was fun, yet informative. My six year old enjoyed it very much and I can imagine younger readers finding it great as well.I received this in a Goodreads giveaway.

I highly recommend this book to adults and children alike, as it is truly a heart warmer. It follows the story of a young puppy who is training to be a service dog, and it gives a whole new meaning to the definition of the word hero.

It's a great book to read to learn about service dogs. I did feel it got a bit wordy. The words were also kind of tiny so hard to read for a storytime with a lot of children. A great book about the topic for certain with lots of wonderful watercolor on paper illustrations.

This is a sweet book with charming illustrations told from the perspective of service-dog-in-training Max, who is being raised by a young boy (and his family) to be a service dog for people with disabilities. Hero!
