Folk Groups And Folklore Genres Reader: A Reader Reviews
This was a pretty good book that had a great deal of critical essays on Folklore Studies. I think that I enjoyed other texts a great deal more... The Dynamics of Folklore offered a more focused frame that was a bit more organized by Foklore discipline - whereby there was a constant narrative where studies flowed through as support and example of the discipline. This book, as well as its companion book, was really just a collection of essays by discipline... I just wasn't impressed by everything, and i wondered if it would have been more appropos if the texts were used as support of a further study or organized study of the discipline or something, and then included them as well. I guess I think that it was a bit disjointed at times, and could have been better. I do know what kind of potential Oring has, but I also don't think that it was apparent here...
this is a very great book i really enjoy!
