I absolutely adored the Mack Bolan series when I was a kid!Though looking back on the series now I think it is fair to say that the books' worldview is VIOLENTLY right-wing, it easily could be a youth primer for the minions of the Neo-Conservatives...This violent Right-Wingism (hey, did I just invent a word!), is most evident in its stark characterizations of the ENEMIES OF America, which incidentally are also the enemies of Israel (maybe Richard Perle and Rumsfeld found some time between eating babies to do some Ghost writing on the side in the 70's and 80's).The lack of moral ambiguity in the Mack Bolan series is easily summed up....America=GoodIsrael=GoodArabs=EvilKGB/Russians=Evil Also I remember in one of the books Mack Bolan fantasizing about 'solving' the Mid-East problem by dropping a nuclear bomb on Mecca, as Black Rob would say 'like WOAH'!Don't get me wrong I love the classic formulaic character of Mack Bolan, the hard as nails loner on his quest for vigilante justice. Its just those genocidal, racist ruminations that even as a boy I found a bit concerning.
