(Originally reviewed for Love Bytes Reviews.)When I read the announcement of this book’s release in a daily email I subscribe to, the cover caught my eye, and I read the blurb. I love ghost stories, so I knew it would be up my alley, and I asked Dani to get me a copy to read and review.Nita Round is a new to me author. Honestly, those of you who follow my reviews might be surprised that I ventured over to the f/f side, as I so heavily read and review on the m/m side. This book was a great one to do it with though. It doesn’t have any hot, heavy and steamy scenes. Instead, it is more of a character study, in my opinion, of two young women, caught up in a long and bloody family feud.Emma Blewitt is an adoptee. She never knew her real parents and doesn’t know anything of their history until one day when a solicitor arrives in her office, informing her she has inherited a house and some money from her aunt who recently passed. The house is in a small village, far out in the middle of nowhere, and when Emma arrives in town everyone is standoffish and distant.Except for the young woman who she discovers is the current ‘Lord’ of the local castle. Maggie is friendly, and proves to be increasingly so, but there is this pesky ghost of a young woman wronged by Maggie’s family generations ago. The ghost as you might have guessed is one of Emma’s ancestors, and the cause of the family feud.I enjoyed the story. It moved along at a good pace, I liked the characters, and I liked the premise. I’d recommend it for anyone wanting a ghostly tale. Personally, I would have liked a little more about the ghost, but the book was complete and enjoyable as it was.

I love paranormal stories and this ghost story is no exception. It centres around 2 main characters, Maggie heir to a family estate and a curse, and Emma who discovers her long lost family line. I enjoyed the characters, the romance was sweet (but not sickly) and a particular favourite of mine is a strong plot/story with the added bonus of romance. Good pacing and well written.
