The kids loved this book based on the "Who Stole the Cookies from the Cookie Jar?" game that we all played in school. We watched the video, then we practiced tapping our legs and clapping to the rhythm of the chant. As soon as we started chanting the kids couldn't keep up the clapping but we are working on it. They loved having their names inserted into the chant. Then I introduced police as our community helpers and we had a police station set up. Their were clues that took them around to four different places until they finally found that My Little Pony had taken the cookies and they were in the freezer. They loved it and wanted to do it again. So many applications and they were really getting the rhythm.

A little girl lost her cookie and thought the cat or dog or rabbit, or turtle had taken it. It was not so. She misplaced it and then find it. She ended up sharing it with all the animals.

Great for new readers because there is some repetition in the first few pages. It also introduces animal names.

This is good for beginning readers. It has repeitive text, and also is a song so they will know most of the words already.

While there's not much to this story, it's a good book for beginning readers. The illustrations are interesting paper cut out creations and the book is short enough for young readers.
